Surrounded by rock formations that naturally
formed over the course of over 200 million years
and once referred to as the “Garden of Angels”,
John Brisben Walker had a vision to transform
Red Rocks to what it is today. The most unique
concert venue in the United States.
Red Rock Amphitheater is nestled between
Creation Rock to the north, Ship Rock to the
south and Stage Rock to the east. Covering over
838 acres and seating for up to 9,525, concert
goers are treated to natural acoustics and a
beautiful view of the Denver Metro Area.
Designed by Denver architect, Burnham Hoyt,
the amphitheater walls have records dating
back to the Jurassic period. These beautiful
rock formations have hosted music acts such as
The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Blues Brothers,
Jethro Tull and U2.
For over 70 years, Red Rocks has set the perfect
setting for Easter Sunrise services. The elevated
seats angled down to the stage offer a clear
view of the rising sun in the east. On the anniversary of 9/11 every year, Red Rocks host the
9/11 stair climb. The route is to equate to the
110 stories of the World Trade Center’s Twin
Towers. Registration fees are donated to the
FDNY Counseling Services Unit and the NFFF.
